Impaction Criteria
for the Kinesiology Major in the
Department of Exercise and Nutritional Sciences
Eligibility Requirements
for Entry into the Pre-Major:
Students must be CSU eligible and/or in good standing as an SDSU student prior
to applying for pre-major status. Admission to the pre-major is restricted
to a limited number of students due to teaching and facility resources. Pre-major
applicants will be ranked on academic criteria and admitted based upon space
availability in the emphasis of interest.
Requirements for Application
to Kinesiology Major Status from Pre-Major Status:
The application for status change can be made during the semester in which all of the following requirements are fulfilled (please note that any course with an * cannot be in progress during the semester you are changing from pre-major to major status):
Athletic Training
- Overall GPA of at least 2.7
- Earn a grade of C
or better in ENS 210 and a B or better in BIOL 212
- Complete a minimum of 60 units including all Preparation for the Major (BIOL 201A, 212*; CHEM 200, ENS 104A/B, 210*, 265, 265L, 289; NUTR 201; PHYS 180A; PSYCH 101, 260; SOC 101; and one of the statistic courses) and any general education courses necessary to make-up remaining units.
- Gain acceptance into
the Professional Program
Fitness, Nutrition
and Health
- Overall GPA of at least 2.7
- Earn a grade of C
or better in ENS 210 and BIOL 212
- Complete a minimum of 60 units including all Preparation for the Major (BIOL 100, 100L, 212*; CHEM 100; ENS 104A/B, 210*, 265, 265L; NUTR 201; PSYCH 101; SOC 101; and one of the statistic courses) and any general education courses necessary to make-up remaining units.
Pre-Physical Therapy
(Rehabilitative Science)
- Overall GPA of at least 2.7
- Earn a grade of C
or better in ENS 210 and BIOL 212
- Complete a minimum of 60 units including all Preparation for the Major (BIOL 201A, 210, 212*; CHEM 200, 201; ENS 104A/B, 210*, 265, 265L; NUTR 201; PHYS 180A, 180B, 182A, 182B; PSYCH 101; SOC 101; and one of the statistic courses) and any general education courses necessary to make-up remaining units.
Physical Education
- Overall GPA of at least 2.7
- Earn a grade of C
or better in ENS 210 and BIOL 212
- Complete a minimum of 60 units including all Preparation for the Major (BIOL 100, 212*; CHEM 100; ENS 210*, 265, 265L; NUTR 201; PSYCH 101; SOC 101; and one of the statistic courses) and any general education courses necessary to make-up remaining units.
You cannot take any ENS
upper division classes (except for ENS 301 & 302) until you have major
status.
